Sydney's Major Race Day Events

Sydney’s racing calendar runs year-round. The two peak periods are the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival (March to April) and the Sydney Spring Carnival (September to November). Outside of these carnivals, there are race meetings almost every Saturday and many Wednesdays throughout the year.

Booking your race day transfer well in advance is always the smartest approach, particularly for carnival and feature days when vehicle availability tightens significantly.

Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival

The 2026 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival is the premier racing event in New South Wales. It spans March through to late April across both Rosehill Gardens and Royal Randwick, with six major race days on the calendar and approximately $30 million in total prize money on offer.

The carnival is managed by the Australian Turf Club (ATC), which also operates Rosehill Gardens, Warwick Farm, and Canterbury Park. For racing fans and corporate clients, this two-month stretch is the busiest and most sought-after period in the Sydney racing calendar.

The Everest and The Championships at Royal Randwick

The TAB Everest is the single largest race day event at Royal Randwick Racecourse each year. Held in October, it is the world’s richest turf race with $20 million in prize money and attracts record crowds to Randwick. Corporate hospitality packages sell out months in advance, and the surrounding streets around Alison Road and High Street, Randwick, are heavily impacted from mid-morning onwards.

The Championships takes place across two Saturdays in April. Day 1 features the $4 million Doncaster Mile (1600m) and Day 2 features the $2 million Sydney Cup (3200m). These are the final major race days of the Sydney Autumn Carnival and they consistently draw some of the largest attendances of the season.

The Golden Slipper and Other Rosehill Feature Days

The Golden Slipper Stakes at Rosehill Gardens is run in March and is the world’s richest race for two-year-old thoroughbreds. First run in 1957, it is one of the most culturally significant days on the Australian racing calendar and draws a large, well-dressed crowd to the Western Sydney venue every year.

Other major Rosehill race days during the autumn carnival include:

  • Hobartville Stakes Day (February) – three Group 2 races and substantial prize money
  • Coolmore Classic Day (March) – the $1 million Group 1 race for fillies and mares, including seven total Group races on the card
  • Rosehill Guineas Day (March) – two Group 1 races and a $2.5 million race day

Sydney Spring Carnival and Year-Round Race Meetings

The Sydney Spring Carnival runs from September through November and anchors the second half of the racing year. Key race days include the Golden Rose at Rosehill, the George Main Stakes and Metropolitan at Randwick, and a series of Group 1 sprint races in the lead-up to the summer break.

Frequently Asked Questions – Race Day Transfers Sydney

For major carnival days such as The Everest, The Championships, and the Golden Slipper, we strongly recommend booking at least 2 to 4 weeks ahead. These events fill up quickly. For standard race day Saturdays and midweek meetings, 48 to 72 hours is usually sufficient.

Yes. We handle multi-stop pickups across Sydney suburbs as part of a single booking. Tell us all pickup addresses when you book, and we will plan an efficient route that keeps everyone on schedule. This is particularly popular for friend groups spread across the Eastern Suburbs, Inner West, and North Shore.

Yes, and we strongly recommend booking both directions together. Return pickups from Royal Randwick, Rosehill Gardens, Warwick Farm, and Canterbury Park can be arranged at a fixed time or on a flexible call-when-ready basis. We coordinate based on your group's preferences.

Absolutely. We regularly handle corporate race day departures from office buildings across the CBD, Barangaroo, North Sydney, Macquarie Park, and Parramatta. Our people movers and luxury coaches accommodate groups from 7 to 53 passengers. We can also coordinate multiple vehicles for very large groups.

Some members of the group may want to leave after the featured race, while others want to stay until the last event. We accommodate this by booking flexible return windows or, where applicable, coordinating two separate return vehicles for a single group. Speak to our team at the time of booking to arrange the best option for your party.

Yes. If the day is going well and your group decides to stay longer than planned, contact our team directly on 02 9955 1000, and we will do our best to accommodate the change based on vehicle availability. Clients on an hourly or flexible booking arrangement can extend more easily, so if you know your group tends to stay until the very end, a flexible booking structure may suit you better than a fixed-time return.
